The Right Way to Take Care of Acne Scars

Acne scars certainly interfere with appearance. But, the right treatment can help restore it.

Acne that appears on the face sometimes makes annoying and frustrated. Though various ways have been done to restore it. But is there really the right treatment for recovering acne scars?

Before answering these questions, you need to know in advance about the types of acne scars.

There are several types of acne scars, namely black spots or called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (HPI) and acne scars. Acne scar covers the hole (hypotrophy) and prominent (keloid) on the face.

There are various triggers for acne scars. In the case of hypotrophy, the habit of squeezing pimples can increase inflammation and the risk of acne scars.

In addition, pimples that are swollen, red, and painful like cystic acne, tend to be in the lower part of the skin. This type of acne can damage the structure of the skin, causing acne scars when healed. Lazy or long treating inflamed pimples can also increase the risk of acne scars.

Actually there are several ways to deal with acne scars. But it depends on the breadth and depth of the acne scars. Some actions that can be done are laser, chemical peels, dermabrasion, skin needling or injection filler.

However, in mild circumstances, the provision of creams that contain hydroquinone or retinoic acid can help disguise acne scars.

Various acne scars treatment works by speeding up the process of skin regeneration, so that new skin cells will arise more quickly. To prevent acne scars, you should apply the following:

  • Avoid the habit of squeezing or touching pimples
  • Maintain facial hygiene by diligently washing your face twice a day using soap that is specifically for acne prone skin
  • Avoid treating acne with any ingredients that have not been medically proven (for example by applying toothpaste)
  • If you have acne, you should treat it immediately and don’t delay it

Consumption of foods containing Astaxanthin, OPC (Oligomeric Proanthocyanidin Complex), and vitamin C are also good to consider. Astaxanthin and OPC play a role in helping to inhibit inflammation of acne scars. Meanwhile, vitamin C helps accelerate wound healing.

In addition, you need to increase your intake of antioxidants to prevent inflammation. Before handling acne scars, make sure the acne is clean and resolved.
